The day after Thanksgiving, the libraries were closed here so, since I couldn't go there, I went to a local bookstore looking for something, anything. Found the nicest paperback copy of Rumer Godden's In This House of Brede. Used, but you'd never know it. Beautifully chunky. And perfect for a tired brain, and since I'd already read it in the past, it was the perfect thing. I'm about done with it, happy to be able to underline in it.
And I slept in this morning, not on purpose, but just turned off the alarm. I'd already been up early to tend to the chickens, and put some straw under their coop, all cozy. It's been rainy, but they were content to putter around, and not be all hold up under their house. Sort of surprising. I figured they'd be all huddled today, but I was wrong.
Now listening to Plumb and some old Justin Bieber (don't say it) when his voice was still high, and drinking some tea second son brought me last night--Tazo's Orange Chiffon. My goodness, it's wonderful. One of the more expensive metal tins of their tea, and well worth it, I'm thinking.
The rest of the week seems to be understated. I'm making beef stew one night, and chicken pie with a Puff Pastry crust (a first for me try---the crust part). I've used Fillo dough countless times, but have never bought the Puff Pastry 'til now.
Trying to not take on anymore than necessary, and none of it is necessary. I want to grow to a ripe old age, so must tend to my needs. You do the same.
